“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.” 1 John 4:7-9 (NKJV)
I was in a Hallmark store this week and there they were.
You know where I’m going with this.
It’s August, people!
Then, it hit me.
Sometimes we expect God to be like Santa.
Just think about it for a minute.
Like when we remind Him that we’ve been “good” all year.
Then, tell Him exactly what we want.
And how do we feel if He doesn’t respond exactly how we expect?
Mad. Sad. Confused.
We might even throw a little temper tantrum.
And do we still believe?
But here’s the good news.
God isn’t Santa.
Not. Even. Close.
Santa is seasonal.
God is Eternal.
God is Love.
Not just in August.
Not just at Christmas.
And, He loves us just the way we are.
We don’t have to be “good” to come to Him.
We just have to come.
Like He did for us all those years ago.
And that, beloved, is what Christmas is all about.
Spread your joy,
