“And they were calling one to another: Holy holy holy, is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isaiah 6:3 (NIV)
They weren’t known as the “Dynamic Duo” for nothing.
And my little friends and I loved to pretend we were them.
I can still see us riding our bikes around the neighborhood, foiling villains and spreading good.
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nahhhhh….BATMAN!
And Robin, of course.
He was Batman’s cool sidekick with a “R” on his chest and a “holy” vocab.
“Holy Sardine! Holy Demolition! Holy Nightmare!”
“Holy Smokes, Batman!”
But really, that word is so much more…
More than a Batman quote.
More than a phrase with an exclamation point.
More than an “old fashioned word” in our grandma’s hymn book.
More than a demand that feels like anything but Love.
I recently looked up the definition, curious to know what the dictionary had to say.
There were a handful…”religious, saintly, devoted”…
But, my favorite was this one:
Now, I’m not going to get into the state of the world, what is and isn’t sacred anymore.
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nahhhhh…NOPE.
That’s not what this post is about.
Instead, I want to completely focus on Holy.
Holy created all life.
Holy died and defeated death, so that we could live forever.
Holy forgives and forgets.
Holy never leaves us, even when we leave Him.
Holy is Love.
Beloved, Holy is all around us.
If we take the time to see Him.
He’s in the thunder and in the sunshine.
He’s in the pain and in the comfort.
He’s in the hope here and the best that is yet to come.
He’s in every single thing.
Someday we’ll be in the presence of Holy.
Faces down, in humble adoration and with true understanding of that Word.
“Day and night, they never stop saying: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.” Revelation 4:8b (NIV)
Friend, are you looking for Holy today?
Not the Dynamic Duo.
The Heavenly One.
Call out to Him.
He is near, so very near.
Can’t you feel His Love?
Spread your joy,
