What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:31-32 (NIV)
Ever wake up in a grumpy mood…
I did and couldn’t figure out exactly why.
It wasn’t the people or the presents.
It wasn’t even the pie.
It was me.
And, the thing is…I love Christmas.
In fact, I recently wrote a post about how I was focusing on the “real meaning” of Christmas this year.
And I thought I was doing quite well with it all…
You see, instead of thinking about my Savior and His glorious birth, I got all wrapped up in me, myself, and I.
(Minus the cute Christmas bow.)
But, God, in His infinite wisdom, knows me.
He knows my heart.
And He led me on a little Christmas journey that I’ll never forget.
It started in the kitchen.
Some of the fixins for our Christmas feast were forgotten, so I volunteered to go back and get them…
And no, it didn’t matter that a thunderstorm was rumbling in the distance and the sky was getting darker by the minute.
After all, the weather matched my mood.
So, I set out on my 15 minute drive and while impatiently waiting for the stoplight to change, I noticed bits of color peeking at me from under the trees.
I could almost hear them whispering “Merry Christmas”.
When the light changed and I continued my drive, the trees gave way to…
The most magnificent rainbow I’d ever seen!
Better than anything in my box of Crayolas. 🙂
And at that moment, my grumpy ole heart melted to every color of that rainbow.
His Christmas rainbow.
And I forgot all about me and focused on Him instead.
The “real meaning” of Christmas.
Dear one, do you need a rainbow in this new year?
Boy, do I understand.
And so does He.
Why not open your stormy heart to the colors of His Love…
Colors like mercy and hope and forgiveness and joy and peace?
As we step into 2017, friend, may your heart and mine be encouraged by His deep and wide and colorful love…love, just like His beautiful rainbow, that has no end.
Spread your joy,
